Introducing Gift Plan!

December 1, 2010

It’s been a long time coming but our new iOS app has been approved just in time to help you out with your Christmas shopping. And after Christmas? Well it’s got you covered there too. Gift Plan presents a whole new way of remembering and managing birthdays, anniversaries and any other gift-giving occasion you can think of.

Take a look at the demo video and let us know what you think!

  1. Looks like you’ve thought of everything! I noticed you can enter the price for each gift. Can you assign a budget for each person or occasion too?

    • Thanks Deb. At this stage the price recording is pretty simple and limited to the Shopping section. But we’re listening closely to user feedback. ;)

      • Well consider that my request then. I LOVE the facebook integration but am not sure why Facebook birthdays are a considered a separate occasion to regular birthdays.

        • Ah, that’s mainly for filtering. People tend to have a lot of Facebook friends but may not necessarily want to buy gifts for them all so having them in a separate occasion type means you can hide them when you just want to see your close family and friends’ birthdays. Also if you want to change someone from the Facebook Birthday occasion type you can just edit it to be a general Birthday from their profile view.

  2. The program is great. Please add support for Russian language. Analogs of such content in the App Store is not Russian, and I think the support for Russian language users give you the love from Russia.

  3. Can you email the gift lists? Would be handy for printing or sharing with others, or just having a copy of the lists on the PC, for example. Thanks, and the app looks great!

  4. hi,

    Love the app.

This is a very handy app but I can’t seem to figure out how to sort my list by who has already got a present and who I need to buy for ( unless I write something in the ideas panel and highlight the shopping cart). This would be especially handy with my lengthy Christmas present list. Is there some way to tick people off the list once their present is purchased or does that person have to then be deleted?

    thanks!

    • Not sure if you knew this or not but when an occasion has a gift bought for it, the recipient gets a gift icon added to the row in the Occasions view.

  5. Are friends’ wishlists on amazon.com integrated? If not, that would be a useful feature.

  6. I love this app, but my current gift list app let’s me take pictures of the gifts or upload them (my son e-mails photos of what he wants). I like to take pictures of my ideas and write where i found it and the cost. if you include this to your application then I will definately purches it.

  7. Will I be able to put pictures of things I come across in the streets if I think it’s a suitable gift idea?

  8. Very nice app! Realizing that the app is still new and has lots of room to grow, here are some suggestions for future enhancements…

    * The ability to snap a photo on the go, and quickly add it as a gift idea

    * iPad support would help with maintaining large lists

    * Automatic wireless syncing, perhaps using Dropbox or MobileMe, between multiple devices (i.e. iPhone, iPad, Mac)

    * List sharing with wireless sync, perhaps to Dropbox or MobileMe (i.e. the ability to share a gift list with my wife, and have us both be in sync)

Thank for your consideration, and keep up the great work! Happy Holidays!

  9. Thanks for the feedback and feature requests. Stay tuned in 2011!

  10. Can a single item on the shopping list be associated to more than one occassion or more than one person for the same occassion?

  11. I love the notification system, but i would like to turn of the sound and only see the message and badge number.
I can’t seem to find the option to turn of the sound.

  12. I’m French and visited your website to see if a desktop version of early Edition was available.
I’ve discovered your blog and this post, and jumped in iTunes Store to purchase Gift Plan.
There are many comments, there, asking for a French localization…

So you can add two todos to your list:
-Localize Gift Plan in French language
-Create a desktop version of Early Edition !

  13. LOVE this app! No other gift organizer has the features of Gift Plan! Any idea when iPad 2 will be supported? And will I be able to transfer my data from my iPod Touch to the iPad eventually? Thanks for a great app!

    • Thanks Melissa. :) We’re not announcing any plans at this stage, but we aren’t ruling anything out and it’s great to know you’d like to see Gift Plan on the iPad. Meanwhile, I’m glad you’re enjoying the app.
